Creating A Cozy, Old-World Outdoor Space

Most of us had planned elaborate vacations for the year that we never got to go on because of the pandemic. If you were one of those people, we hope you get to go wherever you planned to go soon.

As for now, one of the best ways to make the best of where you are is to get as creative as possible and try to liven up the space. Creating a cozy, vintage-themed outdoor space is a great way to bring the vacation vibes home.

Here are three top tips.

Add A Table For Two, Paired With Handcrafted Chairs

Seating is one of the most important elements of any outdoor space—and the more comfortable, the better. Start with a center table that’s paired with handcrafted chairs to give you a nice place to sit.

For an added vintage effect, use muted colors and add an accent to the cushions and seats. If you want to use plants to really bring out the look, go for colors that match the accent colors and place a couple of small pots on the center table to add in an element of natural décor.

Throw In A Lounge Sofa With Bright Cushions

Next, to complete the sitting area, add a bigger lounge sofa in the same color scheme (muted tone and bright cushions). To complete the aesthetic, place a couple of plants on either corner behind the sofa.

Ideally, if you’re going for a vintage theme, the sofa will look best when coupled with a wooden backdrop, but we get that it’s not always possible to do so. If your backdrop isn’t wooden, don’t worry. Simply add a few vintage-style paintings on the wall.

If your outdoor area is an open space and there’s no wall behind the sofa, add a sense of coziness with translucent curtains.

Make Use of Natural Elements And Themed Lighting

If you have the first two tips down, you have the basics covered. Anything beyond that will bolster the look of the space and make it either more functional or more aesthetic. If you feel that your space is still missing that true old-world vibe, go ahead and add some more natural elements like stone décor, or vintage lanterns.
